Aeon Hachioji Takiyama Grand Opens June 26! An Experience-Focused Complex with IMAX Cinema and Dog Run

Most people think of Aeon as a large-format retailer anchored by a supermarket — but not this one.
There's no in-house grocery store here.
With 21 specialty tenants in total, this facility is drawing attention as a testing ground for a new retail model built around experiences and time, not food shopping.

The complex is divided into two zones: North and South.
With a total site area of approximately 94,000 square meters, it ranks among the largest commercial complexes in Hachioji City.

Hachioji's First IMAX Laser Theater

One of the facility's showpieces is "Aeon Cinema Hachioji Takiyama," located in the South building.
This large multiplex features 9 screens and 1,185 seats total, and will introduce the first-ever "IMAX Laser" experience in Hachioji City.

IMAX Laser offers higher brightness and contrast than standard IMAX, along with immersive three-dimensional audio.
IMAX Laser-equipped theaters are rare even across the Tama region, making this a highly anticipated addition for film fans.
The cinema's operating hours run from 9:00 to 24:00 — longer than the other tenants.

Dog Run, BBQ Park, and Atelier Ukai

The lineup of experience-focused venues is just as impressive.

In the South building, "Pet no Kojima" will open with what's set to be the largest dog run in the city at approximately 1,100 square meters.
An adjacent outdoor plaza, "noNIWA" (approx. 560 sqm), provides additional space to relax with your pet.

On the 6th floor of the North building, a permanent BBQ facility called "THE BBQ PARK" will open.
With 400 seats, it's designed to accommodate large groups and families with ease.

Also in the South building (2nd floor), "Atelier Ukai Cafe & Factory HACHIOJI" will open.
Operated by the Ukai Group, this workshop offers hands-on confectionery-making experiences — a standout food experience destination.

Groceries Online, Experiences In-Store

In place of a supermarket, the South building will house "Green Beans Park" — a brand experience space for Aeon Next's online grocery service "Green Beans."
Visitors can explore how robotic logistics work, and from autumn onward, a product pickup spot is also planned.

This facility seems to be making a clear lifestyle proposal: shop for everyday items online, and come to the complex for experiences.
It will be fascinating to see how well this model takes root among local residents.

Getting There and Opening Hours

Access is easiest by train and bus.
From the north exit of JR Hachioji Station or from Keio Hachioji Station, take Nishi-Tokyo Bus route "Hi10 (via Hiyodoriyama Tunnel)" and get off at the "Aeon Hachioji Takiyama" bus stop — about a 1-minute walk.
The journey takes approximately 10 minutes and costs 240 yen for adults.

By car, the facility is located approximately 0.5 km north of the Hachioji Interchange on the Chuo Expressway — about a 5-minute drive.
