41st Chofu Fireworks Festival Set for September 12 — 10,000 Shells Light Up the Tama River

Chofu's fireworks have long been a beloved tradition marking the end of summer.
This year, too, the wide breadth of the Tama River will be used to create a spectacular, large-scale show.
It's one of Chofu's signature events, cherished by local residents for many years.

Highlights to Watch For

The standout moment in the program is the "50 Consecutive Grand Shells."
Series after series of the largest size-8 shells shooting up in rapid succession is the moment the entire crowd erupts.
Also on the program are the artistic "Master Craftsman Shells" and the music-synchronized spectacle "Hanabi Ryusion."

The fusion of fire and music is made all the more breathtaking by Tama River's wide open sky.
Many locals look forward to this event all year long, and it is known for its devoted repeat visitors.

Venues and Nearest Stations

There are three viewing venues.

• Fuda Venue: The main venue closest to the launch site. Approximately 20 minutes on foot from Keio Line "Fuda Station," or about 25 minutes from "Chofu Station."
• Keio Tamagawa Venue: About 10 minutes on foot from Keio Sagamihara Line "Keio-Tamagawa Station" — ideal for easy access.
• Denki Daigaku (UEC) Ground Venue: About 15 minutes from Keio-Tamagawa Station, or about 20 minutes from Keio Line "Chofu Station" or "Fuda Station."

After the fireworks, the area around Keio-Tamagawa Station becomes extremely crowded.
Entry restrictions may be in place, so we recommend giving yourself plenty of time.

Reserved Seats and Ticket Information

Paid reserved seating is planned at both the Fuda Venue and the Keio Tamagawa Venue.
Priority sales for Chofu residents began on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:00 AM, and general sales launched on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
