30,000 Hydrangeas Bloom at Akikawa Gorge! The Akiruno "Ajisai Matsuri 2026" Is Now On

Two Hydrangea Mountains Spread Across the Akiruno Gorge

In Akikawa Gorge within Akiruno City, two venues are hosting a unified event: the "Akikawa Gorge Ajisai Matsuri 2026."

One venue is Minamisawa Ajisai Yama (368 Fukasawa, Akiruno City).
This mountain has been lovingly cultivated over more than 50 years, with over 15,000 plants of more than 50 varieties blooming on its slopes.
The mountain is open from Friday, June 12 to Sunday, July 5, from 9:00 to 17:00.
Admission is 500 yen for adults, 300 yen for children (elementary school students), and free for preschoolers.
The story of how it all began — one person's wish to beautify the path to their family grave with flowers — resonates deeply with every visitor.

The second venue is Wonderful Nature Village Ajisai Yama (600 Kamidaitsuge, Akiruno City).
Featuring the pure white "Annabel Snow Mountain" where annabelles bloom en masse, about 15,000 hydrangeas of approximately 60 varieties spread across a 30,000 m² mountainside.
Admission is 850 yen for middle school students and above; children in elementary school and under are free (dogs are also welcome for 850 yen).
Being able to visit with your pet is one of the unique charms of this venue.

Special Tour on June 20 & 21

Over two days — Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21 — a "Ajisai Special Tour" will be held with a capacity of 20 participants per day.
The participation fee is 16,500 yen per person (tax included).
Guided by on-site staff, participants tour both hydrangea mountains and learn inside stories about pruning and care that can't be heard anywhere else.
The tour includes a limited workshop ("Ajisai Flower Ball Making"), a satoyama lunch using local ingredients, and a bath at Akikawa Gorge's Seonoyu hot spring.
Hours are 8:45 to 15:30. Minimum number of participants: 10.

Combo Tickets with Seonoyu Hot Spring Also Drawing Attention

During the festival, discounted combo tickets with Akikawa Gorge's Seonoyu hot spring are also available.
The alkaline simple sulfur hot spring, sourced from 1,500 meters underground, is known as a "skin-beautifying hot spring."
It's perfect for a soak after wandering among the hydrangeas, letting you slowly ease the fatigue from hiking the gorge.

Instagram Photo Contest "#AkikawaAjisai2026" Now Underway

During the festival, a photo contest hosted by the official Instagram account @tokyomountaintours is also underway.
Simply post with the hashtags "#秋川あじさい2026" and the venue name to enter.
The grand prize is a pair of tickets to Tokyo Summerland (x2 sets, 4 tickets total), with other prizes including accommodation vouchers and Seonoyu bath tickets.
Photos already taken at either venue during the festival period are also eligible.
