Tokyo Summerland Early Pool Opening

June Weekends Only: Early-Season Access
Tokyo Summerland's outdoor pool "Adventure Lagoon" in Akiruno opens for June weekends from June 6 to June 28, 2026—exclusively on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. This pre-season opening is an annual highlight for families across western Tokyo and the Tama area.
Tokyo Summerland sits along National Route 411, near the entrance to the Akigawa Valley, drawing visitors from Hachioji, Tachikawa, Fuchu, and beyond.
June admission: adults (middle school and up) ¥3,600; elementary school children ¥2,500; toddlers (age 3+) ¥1,300. Season passes accepted.
The Great Journey: The Ride Everyone's Talking About
The standout attraction is the Great Journey, a 300-meter-plus tube slide where groups of four ride inflatable tubes through a winding water course. The balance of speed and gentle drops makes it accessible to a wide age range while still delivering real thrills.
The complex also includes Great Wave, one of the largest wave pools in the Tama area; a lazy river; and a splash zone for younger children.
In July and August, the Great Journey regularly runs 60-minute waits. In June, lines are noticeably shorter—making the pre-season period worth targeting.
Working Around the Rainy Season
June's rainy season can put people off, but breaks in the rain often coincide with high humidity and rising temperatures—ideal pool weather.
Watch the forecast and target weekends with sunny stretches. Sunscreen and consistent hydration are essential. If temperatures drop or wind picks up, one extra layer makes the difference. Check Summerland's official X and Instagram accounts for day-of changes.
Getting There
By train: From JR Tachikawa Station, take the Ome Line to Haijima, transfer to the Itsukaichi Line, and exit at Higashi-Akiru Station (about 50–60 minutes total). The park is a 15-minute walk, or take a bus from Akigawa Station.
By car: About 5 minutes from the Akiruno IC on the Ken-o Expressway. 2,000+ space parking lot—filling up is rare in June unlike peak-season weeks.
Akiruno's Summer, One Month Early
Akiruno is known for Akigawa Valley, Hassaka Shrine, and natural surroundings. Every summer, Tokyo Summerland transforms the city's edge into one of the most-visited water parks in the region.
The June pre-season window is the smart time to go: shorter queues, easier parking, same attractions. Whether making it a pre-vacation event for the kids or simply beating the July crowds, Adventure Lagoon in June delivers.
