Kuma Kengo-Designed "Matsubockle" Opens in Kiyose! Restored JR Sleeper Car Also Arrives at Chuo Park

Designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates, the building is wrapped in louvers made from Tama-grown timber.
The warm, natural exterior pairs perfectly with the facility's name, inspired by pine cones.
Located just an 8-minute walk from Kiyose Station's south exit, it's conveniently accessible for locals.

What's Inside?

"Matsubockle" brings multiple functions together under one roof.
Inside, you'll find a children's center where kids can play, the south branch of the public library, and meeting rooms.
For families with children, it's a welcome combination — a play space and reading area all in one.
This new hub in southern Kiyose City looks set to become a go-to spot for families.

A Restored "Yume Kukan" Sleeper Car Returns to Chuo Park!

The action isn't limited to the building itself — the adjacent Chuo Park has its own exciting addition.
On display here is a sleeping car from the "Yume Kukan," a luxury sleeper train once operated by JR.
The aging carriages have been restored and refurbished, making a gleaming return.
"Yume Kukan" debuted in 1989 and is remembered as a symbol of the bubble-era travel mood.
The chance to see it here in Kiyose has railway fans buzzing with excitement.

The Revived Beef Stew Is Also Making Waves

Alongside the "Yume Kukan" display, a revived beef stew that was once served in the dining car is also planned to be available.
This menu item, bringing a taste of the past back to life, is sure to intrigue not just railway fans but food lovers too.

Full Park Opening Scheduled for October 2026

Construction work continues in Chuo Park, with a full opening planned for October 2026.
"Matsubockle" itself is already open to visitors, but the park as a whole won't be complete for a little while yet.
